ANNOUNCEMENT: FACULTY POSITION IN PLASMA PHYSICS

The Institute of Physics at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (UC), Santiago, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, to start as early as March 2021, to join the Plasma Physics Research Group. UC is a traditional university ranked number one in Latin America according to the QS ranking. More information about the Institute can be found at http://fisica.uc.cl/.

The Institute of Physics seeks strongcandidates with academic experience abroad who can contribute to the excellence and diversity of the Institute community through compelling research, teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and administrative duties. 

The successful candidate is expected to establish a leading research program in experimental plasma physics in any of the following areas: pulsed power plasmas, high-energy density physics, radiofrequency discharges, laser-produced plasmas, low temperature plasmas, atmospheric plasmas or any other non-Maxwellian plasmas, plasma diagnostics or plasma applications. Candidates performing theoretical and/or computer modeling research related to some of the previously mentioned experimental areas are also welcome. A Ph.D. degree in Physics (or in a closely related area) is required and postdoctoral experience is desirable.

The candidate should be able to teach a variety of standard undergraduate and graduate physics courses. The ability to teach in English and Spanish is expected after one year.

·               List of publications in refereed journals, 

·               Statement of past research achievements and future research plan, 

·               Statement of teaching interests at undergraduate and graduate levels,

·               Two recommendation letters sent directly by the recommenders.
